Dean’s Pharmacy: A Two-Day Glasgow Photoshoot Bringing a Community Pharmacy’s Rebrand to Life

There are few places as deeply woven into the everyday rhythm of a community as the local pharmacy. It’s where people go for reassurance, for advice, for clarity, for kindness. And in a city like Glasgow — where neighbourhoods still feel like extended families — the pharmacy becomes more than a healthcare provider. It becomes a familiar face.

So when Dean’s Pharmacy began its rebrand and the development of a new website, they knew their imagery had to feel honest, human and grounded in the community they serve. Not staged, not generic, not stock photography — but real people, real services and real moments that reflect the work they do every day.

Across two days, I had the privilege of photographing exactly that.

Capturing People, Not Poses: The Power of Headshots in Healthcare

Healthcare headshots are different from corporate ones. They aren’t just about professionalism — they’re about trust. Patients look for warmth in the eyes, confidence in the posture, and clarity in the expression. They want to feel that the person behind the counter genuinely cares.

During the session, each member of the Dean’s Pharmacy team stepped forward for updated portraits. We prioritised:

  • natural, open expressions

  • clean, bright lighting

  • a calm, welcoming tone

  • consistency across all staff profiles

The resulting headshots don’t simply show what the team looks like — they show the personalities and approachability behind the service.

Day Two: Work Images That Show the Heart of the Pharmacy

The second day focused on real-life documentation of the pharmacy in action. Rather than staged or overly polished images, the aim was to capture the rhythm of a working pharmacy:

  • staff advising patients

  • sorting medication

  • conducting checks

  • preparing prescriptions

  • the team collaborating behind the scenes

  • the welcoming flow of the shop floor

These images will support the pharmacy’s new website, social media, printed materials, and recruitment efforts. More importantly, they communicate what makes Dean’s Pharmacy special: the human connection that sits at the centre of community healthcare.

Why Brand Photography Matters for Community Pharmacies

In 2025, a strong digital presence isn’t optional — even for essential services like pharmacies. Research from the General Pharmaceutical Council shows that 47% of patients now check a pharmacy online before visiting for the first time. Meanwhile, Google reports that searches for “pharmacy near me” have risen by over 200% in five years.

Professional photography helps:

  • build trust

  • humanise the service

  • strengthen the rebrand

  • increase site engagement

  • encourage new visitors

  • improve local SEO

Dean’s Pharmacy understood this perfectly. Their investment in real, thoughtful imagery ensures that their digital presence now matches the compassion and professionalism they provide in person.
